This notice explains what happens to your personal information when you use this website or send us an enquiry. It is written to the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Astro Academy Ltd is the data controller for the information described here, which means we decide why and how it is used. We are a company registered in England and Wales.
Our registered office address is on the public register at Companies House, under the company number above. Email reaches us fastest, and anything that needs to come by post can be sent to that address.
We have not appointed a data protection officer, and are not required to. Questions about your information come to us directly, at the email address above.
There is one form on this website, on the contact page. Everything below comes from it, apart from the technical information your browser sends to any website it visits.
| What | Why we have it | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Your name | To know who we are replying to | Consent |
| Your email address or telephone number | To reply to you | Consent |
| The course you selected, if any | To answer the question you actually asked | Consent |
| Whatever you write in the message box | To answer it | Consent |
| The date and time of the enquiry, and technical details recorded by our form provider such as your IP address | To keep the form working and to block automated spam | Legitimate interests - running a working contact form and protecting it from abuse |
You give consent by ticking the box on the form before you send it. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us, and we will delete the enquiry. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before you withdrew it.
We do not send marketing. Your details are used to answer your enquiry and for nothing else. You will not be added to a mailing list, and we do not sell, rent or share personal information with anyone for their own purposes.
Nothing on this site is a statutory or contractual requirement. If you would rather not use the form, email us instead. If you leave out a way of contacting you, we simply cannot reply.
We use a small number of service providers. They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes.
We will disclose information to anybody else only where the law requires it.
We are in the UK and so is our record of enquiries, but two of the services above are not:
Your email provider and ours may also move messages between countries, as email providers do.
We ask each of these providers to protect the information to UK standards, and we send them no more than the service needs. Even so, if you would rather your details did not leave the UK at all, email us directly instead of using the form - that route stays between your email provider and ours.
We keep enquiries and the correspondence that follows for six years from your last message. That is the period we may need records for tax and accounting purposes, and it is the same rule whether or not you go on to take a course.
Ask us to delete your information sooner and we will, unless the law requires us to keep it.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
Email info@astro-academy.co.uk and say what you want. It costs nothing, and we will respond within one month. There is no automated decision making or profiling anywhere on this site.
This site uses only the cookies our hosting platform needs to serve pages and keep them working. Those are exempt from the consent requirement under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, because the site cannot function without them.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Parts of the site may then stop behaving as intended.
Enquiries travel over an encrypted connection and are held in accounts protected by strong passwords and two factor authentication. No system is perfect: if a breach happens that is likely to put your rights at risk, we will tell you, and we will report it to the Information Commissioner's Office where the law requires.
If the way we handle information changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top of the page changes too. Where a change materially affects people who have already contacted us, we will write to them.
Ask us first - email info@astro-academy.co.uk and we will do our best to sort it out.
If you are not satisfied, you have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator. You can do that without asking us first.
